Lately, in a weird coincidence, a number of people in my life have been talking about the expectations they have of themselves and the ways they criticise themselves for missing those expectations. While I use the low-key example of my always-slightly-dirty car (and my now permanently drunk-looking lamp), the examples that people are dealing with in real life are, naturally, much more impactful.
From a fashion point of view, it's particularly tricky because so many of our expectations of ourselves, of the way we look and dress, are not really our own. They're baked in somewhere along the way, and they can be difficult to confront and even harder to shake off. I'm interested in thinking more about where that's all coming from, so in June we'll be exploring that a bit more through the blog.
In the meantime - what's the minor thing you've been beating yourself up for not getting around to? Tell me in the comments and then let that expectation go!
